Defending champion Dhaka Abahani Limited emerged Group A champions to reach the quarterfinal of the Federation Cup Football Tournament beating Muktijoddha Sangsad KC by 1-0 goal in the last Group A match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Monday.
Rubel Mia scored the match-winner for popular sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit in the 26th minute.
Despite the day’s defeat, the freedom fighters team Muktijoddha SKC also booked a seat for the quarter final as group runners-up at the coffin of star-studded and new comer Saif Sporting Club, and will play Rahmatganj MFS in the 4th quarterfinal on May 27.
Group A champions Dhaka Abahani Limited will play the 3rd quarterfinal against Group D runners-up Brothers Union at the same venue on May 26.
The quarterfinal will begin on Wednesday with Group B champions Sheikh Jamal DC and Group C runners-up Dhaka Mohammedan SC.
