Dhaka Abahani Limited eased past Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra by 3-1 goals in their match of the TVS Bangladesh Premier League Football at Bashundhara Sports Complex in the city on Friday.
In the day’s other match, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited defeated Saif Sporting Club by two goals to nil at the Bir Sreshtho Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj. Mohammedan’s Malian Striker Souleymane Diabate put his team ahead in the 31st minute of the game.
After the interval, Shahriar Emon of Mohammedan doubled the margin in the 51st minute of the match.
Emon missed an opportunity in the 84th minute. Emon got the Saif SC goalie alone but he failed to defeat the Saif custodian. Thus, Mohammedan left the field with 2-0 goals win.
Dhaka Abahani led the points table bagging 10 points from four matches, while Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra took the seventh position earning five points from as many matches.
After a barren first half, Jewel Rana of Abahai put his team ahead by a header in the 50th minute of the play.
Abahani’s Iranian defender Milad Sheikh Soleimani doubled the margin by a power-packed shot in the 61st minute of the game.
Portuguese Esmael Ruti of Sheikh Russel Krira Chakara reduced the margin by a forceful shot in the 65th minute of the clash.
Nabib Newaj Jibon of Dhaka Abahani limited sealed the fate of the match by a spectacular shot just six minutes before the long whistle.
Earlier, Esmael Ruti’s shot was cleared by Abahani custodian Sohel in the 13th minute of the game.
Abahani’s Brazilian recruit Dorielton’s shot was bounced back in the 38th minute of the match.
