Dhaka Abahani Limited became runners-up in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football as they blanked Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited by five goals to nil in their 20th match of the TVS BPL Football at the Bhasha Sainik Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla on Tuesday.
Dhaka Abahani Limited grabbed 44 points from 20 matches. Dhaka Abahani Limited have two matches in their hand. Saif Sporting Club and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited collected 34 points each from 20 matches but by virtue of better goal difference Saif Sporting Club have taken the third position in the points table. After their two respective matches, the third position will be decided.

Abahani’s foreign recruit Raphael Augusto made it 2-0 by a header using a right side cross of his teammate Daniel Colindres in the 38th minute of the game.

After the interval, Nabib Newaj Jibon put the ball into the net capitalizing a right side pass of his teammate Rakib Hossain in the 77th minute of the game.
Nabib Newaj Jibon sealed the fate of the match (5-0) by a spectacular header utilizing a superb corner kick of his teammate Daniel Colindres in the 82nd minute.
Dhaka Abahani Limited played a goalless draw with Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited in their first round match.
Today Chittagong Abahani Limited will take on Uttar Baridhara Club in their 20nd match at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj. The match will kick-off at 4.00pm.
