Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Wednesday claimed that the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) is not providing complete information about the dengue situation.
“We have not received complete information from the DGHS. It is a difficulty we face so that we are struggling daily,” the DSCC Mayor said while addressing the media after inaugurating a foot-over bridge in Azimpur in the city.
“DSCC has to work daily to collect information from other places. Because we do not get the message in the morning, we suffer and our operations are delayed,” Taposh said.
The DSCC Mayor described that this year the dengue patients are half of the number of last year.
Meanwhile, the health department reported that 196 patients got admitted to the hospitals in the last 24 hours.
“It is an inter-ministerial decision as well that the DGHS has to cooperate with complete information. We have been saying it from the very beginning to the DGHS,” Taposh said.
The DSCC Mayor said that the tested method to reduce dengue cases is to uproot the source of Aedes mosquito breeding hubs.
Fazle Noor Taposh said, “If we do not have the information about the source of Aedes mosquito, how will we destroy them?”
He called on the DGHS to cooperate with the DSCC with essential information.
The Mayor expressed his optimism saying that the current rate of dengue infection is possible to stop the spread of Dengue and the Aedes mosquito breeding.
