The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has finalised the guidelines for Covid-19 vaccination in Bangladesh.
The 137-page guidelines were finalised on Tuesday morning.
Earlier on Monday, the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) approved the Covid-19 vaccine developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca for emergency use in Bangladesh, paving the way for its import from India.
DGDA Director General Maj Gen M Mahbubur Rahman gave the emergency use authorisation (EUA), Abu Hena Morshed Zaman, director of the Central Medical Stores Depot, told the Somoy News.
With the approval, there is no barrier to importing the vaccine from the Serum Institute of India, he said.
Meanwhile, Managing Director of Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd Nazmul Hassan said Serum will have to supply the vaccine to Bangladesh within one month into its approval as per the agreement.
The Indian company will supply 3 crore doses of vaccine of Bangladesh with 50 lakh arriving in every lot.
