Concerted efforts of all government, non- government and research organizations concerned should come forward and work together to protect the existing life and nature in Barind from further degradation, said development activists at a post-rally street corner meeting.
They voiced for time-befitting and effective measures to prevent violence against life and nature for conservation of both biodiversity and cultural diversity.
Bangladesh Resource Centre for Indigenous Knowledge (BARCIK) and Barind Education, Culture and Diversity Protection Centre (BECDPC) jointly organised the meeting at Shaheb Bazar Zero Point in the city Monday.
“Protect Diversity, Stop Warming and Save Life” was the slogan of the meeting which was organized in observance of International Life Diversity Day- 2017.
BARCIK Coordinator Pavel Partha addressed the meeting as focal person saying that the diversities are gradually declining due to various natural and manmade catastrophes posing a serious threat to the whole ecosystem.
So, there should be a campaign and state level interventions to save diversities.
Barind Region Coordinator Shahidul Islam, Programme Officer Jahid Ali, Agriculturist Amrita Kumar Sarker, Researcher Ismat Zerin and President of BECDPC Jawad Ahmed Rafi also spoke.
Pavel Partha mentioned diversity of life, plant and culture has been declining alarmingly due to violence against nature posing a serious threat to public life and overall ecosystem.
