Developing skilled workforce to build prosperous BD stressed

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Friday said the government has taken different initiatives to impart quality education to create human resource for building an economically advanced Bangladesh.
“The new generation should be given global standard education to build them as competent citizens of the country,” he told a reception for successful students of SSC and HSC examinations at the auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) here, an official release said. Nahid said, “We want to make our children as perfect human-beings through developing a sense of patriotism among them for ensuring better contribution to the national development.”
He said despite a number of challenges, Bangladesh has some remarkable and praiseworthy achievements in the education sector. Distribution of free textbook among the students of primary and secondary Levels, increased enrolment rate and eradicating gender inequality in primary and secondary education have already been acknowledged in different international forums, the minister added.
Nahid urged the students to acquire time-befitting education to adjust with the changing job markets across the world.
It is urgent to prepare curriculum incorporating ICT to make the students efficient workforces, he said, adding “You (students) are the future of the country. So, you have to be good citizens through acquiring knowledge to boost the development process for building a prosperous Bangladesh.” Managing Director of South Bangla Agriculture and Commerce Bank Limited Md Golam Faruq and General Secretary of DRU Syed Shukur Ali Shovo, among others, addressed the function with DRU President Saiful Islam in the chair.
