City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin unveiled plaque of development works of Tk.17.88 crores in East Bakalia No.18 ward of the port city on Sunday. The development works include construction of East Bakalia City Corporation High school building, development of damaged roads and culverts , construction of drains, retaining wall, new bridges etc .
City Mayor unveils plaque of the development works arranged at Waiz Khatun City Corporation Maternity and Charitable Dispensary Square as Chief Guest. Ward AL President Ahmed Elias presided over the function .
Local ward AL leaders , officials of city corporation were present on the occasion.
City Mayor further informed that in current fiscal, development works amounting to Tk33.60 crs now undergoing under 32 projects of East Bakalia.
Ctg Chamber mulls to establish Special l Economic Zone: Chittagong Chamber o f Commerce and Industry will establish a specialised Economic Zone (SEZ) in Chittagong with their own fund .
This decision of establishing SEZ was taken at the extra-ordinary general meeting of the chamber on Sunday.
Sources said this announcement of SEZ was declared at a press conference so held on the occasion of ongoing Chittagong Trade Fair. Chamber President Mabbubul Alam presided over the meeting held at World Trade Centre. Among others former chamber President and lawmaker MA Latif also spoke in it.
The lawmaker said there are lot of prospective natural advantages in Chittagong for flourishing the economy of the country but not utilized properly. He mentioned that now under the present government under dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, about 40 percent infrastructure development work now under going aimed at turning the zone into a regional hub of the subcontinent. He also mentioned the ongoing works of special economic zone of Mirsarai Karnaphuli tunnel. Moheskhali Power project, LNG Terminal, Deep seaport.
