A three-day long “Development Fair-2017” aims at sharing information about development activities kicks off in the city here yesterday.
Chittagong district administration is arranging the fair in front of Chittagong M A Aziz Stadium Gymnasium hall. Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chittagong Shamsul Arefin disclosed this in a meeting of district law enforcement committee held at the conference room of Chittagong district sports association.
Besides, Development Fairs will be held at 14 upazilas of Chittagong from next month, Shamsul Arefin said.
He said Bangladesh, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has advanced in many socio-economic fields.
He said the main purpose of the fair is to display various development activities of present government before the people. “Nobody of the world would think of Bangladesh as a country of storms, cyclones, drought, corruption and poverty any more. It has now become a model of development,” he added.
He said the present government has taken initiatives to achieve middle-income country status where poverty will completely be eradicated by 2021.
Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority Pabon Chowdhury will attend the inaugural ceremony as chief guest.
A total of 95 state owned organizations and 107 private firms will
participate with different information stalls in the fair, the sources said.
