A Dhaka court on Wednesday asked detectives again to submit by February 10 the probe report of a case filed against Mohammad Erfan Salim and four others over assaulting navy official Wasif Ahmed Khan in the capital’s Dhanmondi on October 25 last year.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Abu Bakar Siddique passed the order after Detective Branch of Police failed to submit any report before the court on the day.
Erfan, son of Dhaka-7 lawmaker and Awami League leader Haji Mohammad Salim, and four others are now in jail.
The incident happened after Erfan’s SUV hit the navy official’s motorcycle.
Yesterday, another Dhaka court granted ad-interim bail to Erfan Salim in two cases in which he was sentenced by a mobile court for illegally possessing walkie-talkies and foreign liquor in October last year.
On October 26 last year, Rab Executive Magistrate Sarwoer Alam handed six months’ imprisonment to Erfan for keeping the radio transceivers illegally and the other six months for the illegal liquor.
