Staff Reporter :The post deprived leaders and activists of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) staged demonstration also on Wednesday in the city. As a result, the supporters of newly announced full-pledged central committee and the deprived JCD men engaged in a clash near the BNP’s Nayapaltan central office in the afternoon. The clash broke out when some post-deprived JCD leaders and their followers equipped with sticks marched towards the Nayapaltan office from Kakrail’s Nightingale crossing, chanting slogans against the new committee. The leaders of the new committee and their supporters took position in the central office from morning. The JCD men also equipped with sticks, attacked their rivals when they reached near the office. Facing the strong resistance, the dissident JCD men fled the scene.At the time, panic spread among the people in the Nayapaltan area. Vehicular movement was halted in the area for sometime following the incident. However, no one was injured in the incident. OC of Paltan Police Station Murshed Alam said that two JCD groups locked into a clash in the Nayapaltan area. Police brought the satiation under control and restored traffic in the area.Earlier on Sunday, the dissident JCD men attacked the Nayapaltan office, and torched the student body’s office and two motorcycles.
