The depression over North West Bay and adjoining West Central Bay moved further northwards over North West Bay and adjoining area.
It was centred at 9 am on Saturday about 695 kms southwest of Chittagong port, 675 kms southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 515 kms south-southwest of Mongla Port and 540 kms south-southwest of Payra Port.
It is likely to move in a north/northeasterly direction, said a special bulletin of the Met office.
Under its influence deep convection is taking place over North Bay. Squally weather may affect North Bay, coastal regions of Bangladesh and the maritime ports.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no three. All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain in shelter until further notice.
