Depression moves northwestwards

The land depression over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining area of Bangladesh moved northwestwards further and is likely to trigger a tidal surge of 3-4 feet height above normal astronomical tide.
It lies over Jharkand and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal of India at 6am on Thursday and it is likely to move northweswtwards further and weaken gradually, said a Met office special bulletin.
Under its influence, steep pressure gradient
persists over North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal No 3. The low lying areas of the coastal districts of Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Barguna, Bhola, Patuakhali, Barisal, Pirojpur, Bagerhat, Khulna, Satkhira and their offshore islands and chars are likely to be inundated by tidal surge of 3-4 feet height above normal astronomical tide.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
