Depression in Bay turns into cyclone Roanu

The deep depression over West Central Bay and adjoining South-west Bay moved further northwards, intensified into a cyclonic storm ‘Roanu’ over the same area.
The cyclone was centred at 9am about 1425 kms south west of Chittagong Port, 1395kms southwest of Cox’s Bazaar
 Port, 1245 kms southwest of Mongla Port and 1275 kms southwest of Payra Port.
It is likely to intensify further and move in a north-north-easterly direction, said a storm warning centre message issued by the Met Office on Thursday.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 54 kms of the storm centre is about 62kph rising to 88 kph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain very rough near the cyclone centre.
Maritime Ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to lower distant warning Signal No. two but instead hoist local warning Signal No. four (r) four.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast so that they can take shelter within a short notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
Meanwhile, the Met Office in its another bulletin forecasts heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur under the influence of deep depression over west-central Bay and adjoining area.
The rainfall likely to occur at the places over Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, Sylhet and Dhaka divisions during next 24 hours.
