Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal of Feni yesterday (Sunday) recorded the depositions of three witnesses in the case filed over the murder of Sonagazi Fazil Madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi.

cross-examined the tree witnesses on the 7th day. On Sunday the court completed recording the depositions of kerosene peddler Lokman Hossain Liton, Borka peddler Jasim Uddin and shop employee Helal Uddin Farhad. So far, eight prosecution witnesses testified in the case. Meanwhile, on Sunday, the court fixed today (Monday) for recording the depositions of Nusrat’s younger brother Rashedul Hasan Raihan and peddler Zahirul Islam.
On Sunday at 11.30 am, the 16 accused including prime accused Siraj-Ud-Daula, Awami League leader Ruhul Amin and Commissioner Maksud were produced in the court amidst tight security and later the accused testified.
Earlier, the first witness and complainant of the case Mahmudul Hasan Noman, who is the elder brother of slain Nusrat started testifying in the case on June 27, that ended on June 30. Later, Nusrat’s classmates- Nishat Sultana and Nasrin Sultana Furti testified.
Of the 92 witnesses, eight so far testified in the case including complainant Mahmudul Hasan Noman, Nusrat’s classmates Nishat Sultana and Nasrin Sultana Furti, and peon Nurul Amin.
Earlier, on May 29, the PBI pressed charges against 16 persons including prime accused Siraj-Ud Daula, the principal of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa and Awami League leader Ruhul Amin over the killing of Nusrat. The PBI pressed charges dropping the names of five persons, out of the total 21 accused of the case. They submitted an 808-page charge sheet in the court of Magistrate Jakir Hossain.
Of the 16 accused of the charge sheet, 12 have already given their confessional statements in the concerned magistrate courts. Other accused persons are- Nur Uddin, 20, Shahdat Hossain Shamim, 20, Maksud Alam alias Moksud Al councilor,50, Saifur Rahman Mohammad Jobayer, 21, Jabed Hossain alias Sakhwat Hossain Jaber,19, Hafez Abdul Kader, 25, Afsar Uddin,33, Kamrun Nahar Moni, 19, Umme Sultana Popy alias Tuhin alias Shampa alias Champa,19, Abdur Rahim Sharif, 20, Eftekhar Uddin Rana, 22, Imran Hossain alias Mamun, 22, Mohammad Shamim, 20 and Mohiuddin Shakil,20.
Meanwhile, on June 30, a court of Feni indicted Siraj-Ud-Doula, the prime accused in the case over killing Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa girl Nusrat Jahan rafi, in a case filed over a Tk 1.39 crore-cheque forgery. Last year, the case was filed against him. He was arrested in the case and later secured bail from a court.
On April 6, Nusrat Jahan Rafi, 18, was set afire at an examination centre of Alim examination allegedly by students loyal to Principal Siraj Ud Doula of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa after he was arrested and subsequently suspended as Rafi had accused him of sexually harassing her.
After fighting for her life for five days, Nusrat succumbed to her injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the capital on the night of April 10, five days after the heinous incident.
