Dhaka’s Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court yesterday set July 8 to record depositions of the witnesses in the case filed in connection with the murder of Special Branch (SB) Police Inspector
Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Shapna Rahman, as none turned up to testify on Thursday.
Earlier, on May 6, Judge Md Jahurul Haque of the court framed charges against the slain couple’s only daughter Oishee Rahman, 19, and her friends Mizanur Rahman alias Roy and Asaduzzaman alias Jony and scheduled June 5 for hearing.
Meanwhile, on May 20, Judge Mosammat Zakia Pervin of Dhaka’s First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court framed charge against Khadiza Akhter Sumi, 11, domestic help of the slain couple’s Chamelibagh flat in the capital for allegedly assisting Oishee in killing her parents last August. The judge also granted juvenile Sumi bail the same day.
The decomposed bodies of Oishee’s parents were found in their house on August 18 last year. Oishee was missing since the discovery of the bodies and turned herself to police later.
Oishee’s friends Rony and Jony were arrested following her surrender to the police two days after the killing.
Oishee also gave confessional statement to a court, admitting that she murdered her parents. Police confirmed Oishee’s involvement in the murder by conducting DNA test on her ornaments and a bloodstained dress she left at home. According to DB Inspector and also Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, Abu Al Khair, Oishee had mixed sleeping tablet to sedate her parents and then stabbed them to death.
Oishee along with her brother and housemaid left the house the day before the bodies were found. Her brother was sent back to the house the next day. She surrendered to the police station with Sumi later.
