Saima murder: Deposition of witnesses end

The Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal of Dhaka yesterday concluded recording the depositions of witnesses in the case filed in connection with the murder of Samia Afrin Saima, 7.
On Wednesday, Judge Kazi Abdul Hannan of the tribunal recorded depositions of three witnesses to complete the depositions witnesses and fixed February 23 to hear the self defence statements of the accused.
Investigation of the case, a DB Inspector (unarmed) and also Wari Zonal Team Inspector Md Arjun,
 first investigation officer and Wari Police Station SI Harun-Ur-Rashid and physician, who conducted the autopsy of the victim testified in case on Wednesday.
On the other hand, lone accused Harun-Or-Rashid was produced in the court on the occasion. The court recorded the depositions of 15 witnesses of the case. Earlier, on January 2, the court framed charge against the accused.
Harun also made confessional statement in the court admitting his involvement.
Earlier on July 7, last year, Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Harun for killing Samia Afrin Saima following rape in Wari area of the capital.
Samia was found dead on a 9-storey building’s vacant flat in Wari on July 5, last year. She lived with her family on the sixth floor of the building.
Her father Abdus Salam filed a case with Wai Police Station of the city.
