Tax evasion case: Deposition of another witness against Koko recorded

A Dhaka court on Wednesday recorded the depositions of another witness in the case filed against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda’s younger son Arafat Rahman Koko for dodging income tax.
Judge of Dhaka’s Special Judge Court-7 recorded the depositions of Zahangir Alam, a Vice Chairman of National Bank and June 24 to record further depositions of the witnesses. The court so far recorded the depositions of three witnesses in the case.
On September 27, 2012, the court framed charges against Koko in the case. On March 01, 2010,
Shahin Akhter Hossain, Deputy Tax Commissioner of National Board of Revenue, filed the case against Koko on the charge of tax evasion. The issued arrest warrant against Koko on the same day.
In the case Koko has been accused of dodging income tax amounting to Tk 52, 39,000 through concealing facts about his income from 2002 to 2007.
