Violence case: Deposition against 147 BNP men Dec 15

A Dhaka court yesterday (Monday) deferred recording the deposition of witnesses in a case filed for alleged vandalism against 19-party alliance 147 leaders and activists, including BNP Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and former Chief Whip of
Opposition Zainul Abedin Farroque until December 15.
Magistrate Tareque Moinul Islam Bhuiyan of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order as no witness appeared in the court on Monday.
Zainal Abedin Farroque, Adviser to BNP Chairperson, AZM Zahid Hossain and BNP leader Amanullah Aman ,among 91 accused, were present in the court on the occasion.
 The 56 accused persons, including Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, appealed to the court seeking time.
On March 11, 2013, the case was filed against 148 men of the alliance for their alleged involvement in sabotage activities in Paltan area of the city.
On March 24 of that year, Paltan Police Station Sub-Inspector and also the Investigation Officer of the case Mahbubul Hasan submitted the charge-sheet against the accused. Of the accused, Omar Faruq died and his name was dropped from the charge-sheet.
