Dental technologists demand BMDC affiliation

Bangladesh Dental Council, Chittagong Unit demanded recognition of the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council and stopping of harassment on dental technologists by different agencies. The BDC leaders disclosed it at a press conference arranged at CMUJ Hall in city yesterday . District unit Advisor Abul Hasan read out a written statement before the journalists.
The written statement was told that about 16 thousand medical technologists passed from 7 govt and 85 private institutions mostly are now unemployed and the numbers of unemployed medical technologists increasing gradually.
Abul Hasan told that govt has provision of only 515 posts of technologists and the dental technologists are passing their days with miserably. The press meet was also told that in one side there is no scope of govt service and on the other no permission of private practice by these technologists.
In this present context, govt is also giving affiliations of new medical institutions and hence the numbers of unemployed medical technologists are increasing day by day. The press statement said other medical assistants are permitted for private practice but dental technologists are deprived of this facilities.
Meanwhile the matter of registration of dental technogists are under discussions in the concerned ministry but the harassment of the mobile court against dental technologists are continued randomly, press meet was told.
Among others, FF Kamal Uddin, President of the BDC Dipak Kanti, General Secretary Shantanu Das, Vice President BiplabKumar Nath, Rajib Chowdhury, Mitun Biswas were present in the press meet.
