Denmark keen to help Bangladesh’s agriculture sector

Danish Ambassador in Dhaka Winnie Estrup Petersen on Monday expressed her country’s interest to work closely with the Bangladesh government for the development of agricultural sector.
“Bangladesh wants to be a partner for the development of Bangladesh’s agricultural sector as both the countries have long been enjoying sustainable bilateral relations of their mutual interests,” said Winnie Estrup Petersen during a meeting with agricultural minister Dr Md Abdur Razzak at his secretariat office.
Abdur Razzak sought Danish ambassador’s cooperation for boosting Danish investments especially in the area of food processing and marketing. More emphasis will have to be given on mechanization of agriculture to cut production costs of food grains, he said, adding that alongside, it is important to take steps to ensure preservation, processing and marketing of agricultural products for increasing the earnings of farmers and creating jobs.
The minister said both the countries signed several agreements on climate change and other bilateral issues in 2016 and there are still scopes to strengthen cooperation in tourism and construction sectors.
