The dengue outbreak would be brought under control within the next one month based on the awareness of the urban people, climate change, city corporations and all-round activities of the ministry, said Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam.
He expressed his optimism in a keynote address to the concluding workshop of the ‘EU Support to Health and Nutrition to the Poor in Urban Bangladesh’ project at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital on Thursday.
The minister said the mayors and councilors of the city corporation are working hard to kill dengue. Spraying is being done regularly in the
morning and afternoon. People have also been made aware as to how Aedes mosquito breeding can be destroyed. Hopefully within a month the Aedes mosquito will be no more.
The event was presided over by Maran Kumar Chakraborty, Additional Secretary, Local Government Department. Ali Noor, Secretary, Department of Health Education and Family Welfare, Mezbah Uddin, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, Mustakim Billah Farooqui, Project Director and Additional Secretary and EU Representative in Bangladesh Marijio Chian were present as the special guest.
