Since the beginning of this month, dengue patients are spreading rapidly in Ishwardi. In nine days, 20 patients are receiving treatment in various clinics including Upazila Health Complex. Among them, 5 people are admitted in Upazila Health Complex. Upazila Health Officer Dr. Asma Khan said that apart from the 5 people admitted in the upazila, the number of dengue patients in the upazila is increasing according to the information of various clinics.
Last week, 5 workers engaged in Rooppur nuclear power plant project were infected with dengue locally. They are being treated at Upazila Health Complex. Those admitted are Tushar Khan (24), father, Monayem Khan village, Rezan Nagar, Liton (38), Sohail Rana (28), Mitoon (28) and another person whose name is not known. According to Upazila Health Complex sources, none of those diagnosed with dengue have gone to Dhaka within a month. They contracted dengue from the bite of the local Aedes mosquito.
