Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam on Saturday said the dengue situation in the DNCC area is under control due to the impact of the social movement for recovery.
“The number of dengue patients in the DNCC area is comparatively less as compared to other areas of the capital as a result of the social movement with the spontaneous participation of the city dwellers in cleanliness as per the data obtained from various sources,” he said.
He said this while presenting the overall situation including the importance of the slogan to the journalists at Kalyanpur Girls School and College ground after implementing ’10 minutes every Saturday at 10 am, we clean our houses’ in Kalyanpur area of the capital.
The DNCC Mayor remembered with deep respect all those killed in the barbaric grenade attack on August 21, 2004, and prayed for the forgiveness of the departed souls of all the martyrs.
He instructed the concerned officials to issue letters to the owners of the plots or places in the area covered by the DNCC to take immediate action to prevent them from becoming mosquito breeding grounds.
