Dengue feared in Kishoreganj

The people of Kishoreganj are in distress and hazards because of mosquito infestation and menace which may lead to dengue. In the prevailing situation two types of mosquitoes have been found in many areas of Kishoreganj municipal town.
Ordinary people say mosquitoes breedings have increased but mosquito repellent is not being sprayed. But, the Mayor is claiming that they are spraying mosquito repellent regularly, the menace of mosquitoes is less than before.
Mosquitoes are growing in the town because of not cleaning the drains regularly. Moreover, the citizens

are complaining that mosquitoes are breeding in the drains and ponds scattered in different areas as they are filled with dirty water and not cleaned regularly.
Alamgir Hossion, a resident of Gaital in the town, said the area is densely populated. As a result, we live with the risk of corona and dengue. It goes without saying that there had been no mosquito killing spray since corona started. You can’t stay indoors because of mosquito infestation.’
 “There are mosquitoes at night and during the day. I have become impatient with the extreme menace of mosquitoes. I cannot go to sit safely for a minute anywhere,” Arifur Rahman, a resident of Kharampatti in the municipal area, said this with regret.
Lovely Ahkter, a resident of Batrish area in town said, “I have been suffering from mosquito infestation for 24 hours. I did not see spraying mosquito repellent on a single day.
 Palash Mahmud, a resident of Gaital in the municipal area, said he now has to endure mosquito bites even during the day. Low-income people and students are in more trouble. Students are not able to study in the evening due to mosquito bites.
Good results are not being obtained by burning mosquito coils. Because if the coil is kept burning, there is a problem of breathing.
Kishoreganj Pourashava sources said, so far we have not received any allocation for mosquito extermination. However, with the efforts of the municipal mayor, mosquito eradication activities are going on in every ward.
Kishoreganj Mayor Mahamud Pervez told The New Nation that Temefos 50 pc EC larvicide is being given to kill mosquitoes. So far we have not received any allocation for killing mosquitoes. Even though I have not been allocated, I am continuing the activities of killing mosquitoes.
