One more person died of dengue fever in 24 hours until Friday morning raising this year’s death toll to 68 from the mosquito-borne disease.
During the period 165 new patients were hospitalized across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The lone death was reported in Dhaka, said the DGHS.
This year so far 63 died in Dhaka city alone, two each in Chattogram and Khulna divisions and one in Rajshahi.
Among the new patients, 141 were undergoing hospital treatment in Dhaka while the remaining 24 cases were reported from outside the division, according to DGHS.
Some 975 patients diagnosed with dengue fever are receiving treatment in the country as of Friday morning.
Of them, 766 patients are receiving treatment at different hospitals in the capital while the remaining 209 were listed outside Dhaka.
Some 18,362 patients have been admitted to different hospitals with dengue since January.
So far 17,319 dengue patients have left hospitals after recovery, said DGHS.
The number of dengue patients hospitalized in a single day was the highest with 343 patients on September 7.
In August the country recorded the highest number of 7,698 dengue cases of the current year.
In July 2,286 people were diagnosed with dengue and 12 died while in June 272 cases were recorded with no deaths.
Meanwhile, one dengue patient died while 165 people were hospitalised with dengue fever in the 24 hours preceding 8:00am on Friday, according to the Directorate
General of Health Services (DGHS). Of them, 24 were hospitalised outside Dhaka.
A total of 7,841 dengue patients were hospitalised across the country in September, which is the highest number of hospitalisations in a single month this year.
According to the DGHS report, 7,698 were diagnosed in August, 2,286 patients were hospitalised in July, 272 in June, 43 in May and the rest were diagnosed between January and April.
With the new cases, a total of 18,362 were hospitalised this year. Of the total infected, 2,337 are from outside Dhaka. This year, 68 people have died of dengue infection in the country. All of whom died between July, August and September.
Twelve people died in July, 34 died in August and 22 in September. Among the deaths, 63 have died in Dhaka division, two in Chattogram and Khulna divisions and one in Rajshahi division.
Though most of the patients who were hospitalised have so far been released, 975 are still undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka, and 209 outside the capital, the DGHS data shows.
