Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujon has inaugurated two new pairs of Demu trains on Chattogram – Dohazari routes. The Demu train was inaugurated at 12 noon yesterday on the Dohazari railway station premises.
MP Moslem Uddin Ahmed, MP Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, Railway Additional Director General (Operations) Sardar Shahadat Ali, East Zone General Manager (GM) Jahangir Hossain and others were present.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony, Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan said, “Demu train has been provided here as a first step.” Of the 10 mega projects of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, two are railways. One is the rail link with the Padma Bridge, the other is the rail link with Myanmar, China and India.
He said that for this, mega projects are being taken up for the reform and development of railways. There will be a sophisticated junction at Dohazari.By December 2022, the work of the railway line from Dohazari to Cox’s Bazar will be completed and the train will be made anailable for running, he added.
