UNB, Dhaka :
Students, teachers and activists on Tuesday held a human chain to protest against the demolition of a govt. primary school on Bailey road in Dhaka.
The protesters demanded that the school is rebuilt at its site adjacent to Bangladesh Girls’ Guide Association.
Samajik Shikkya Kendra Government Primary School was demolished last week allegedly at the initiative of the association even though an appeal on the land ownership
dispute is pending in the High Court, said the school’s head ministress Rowshan Ara Begum.
Bangladesh Chhatra Union arranged the human chain in front of National Press Club.
“They razed the school during the Eid vacation without completing the legal procedure,” Rowshan Ara said.
Chhatra Union leader Bidhan Biswas, the school governing body president Morsheda Banu, Chhatra Union secretary Lucky Akter and its general secretary Sumon Sen also spoke in the programme.
