Democracy restored thru’ creation of Nov 7 : Speakers

A discussion on “Proclamation of Independence and Sipahi Biplob-7 Nov” was arranged by Ziaur Rahman Foundation ,Chittagong Chapter held at Chittagong Press Club auditorium on Thursday evening.
 Former whip and Information & Research Secretary of BNP Syed Wahidul Alam was present as Chief Guest presided by the Chief Coordinator of Ziaur Rahman Foundation, Chittagong and city General Secretary of BNP Dr. Shahdat Hossain .
The chief guest in his deliverations said the importance of the November 7 is unlimited and on that very day the soldiers and mass public freed the Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman from the custody of ill force from cantonment.
He further said when the country is running in a crucial position, Shaheed President came beside the people of the country .
He also mentioned that there was none to declare the independence in 1971 and the nationwide movement was on the burse of jeopardizing, on that time Shaheed Zia proclaimed the independence from Kalurghat Radio Transmission centre in Chittagong on 26 th march, 1971 aimed at unite the nation for independence. Not only proclamation of independence, he also organized the Jet Force of the liberation war.
In the discussion, Prof. Dr.Hasan Mahmud of Ctg University, former general secretary of BMA Dr.Khurshid Jamil, journalists Jahidul Karim Kochi, Mahbub Rashid, Advocate Abdul Malik, Adv.Mofizul Hoque, AEB President Engr.Abu Sufian, general secretary Engr. Selim Alam participated as discussants.
In his address, Dr.Shahdat Hossain said democracy was restored through participation of all political parties after the sipahi janata biplob of 1975 as well as assumption of state power by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
He said after taking power of the country after Nov 7, multiparty democracy was introduced, independence of media was restored through abrogating the one party rule of Baksal.
Among others, Dr.Shah Newaz, Dr. Rakibul Hasan, Dr. Belayet Hossain, Mosharaff Hossain Dipti, Haroon Jaman, councilor Monoara Begum Moni, Jeli chowdhury, and the leaders of BNP and its front organizations were present on the occasion.
