Democracy must be restored, says Hannan Shah

Staff Reporter : BNP Standing Committee Member Brigadier General (rtd) ASM Hannan Shah said on Sunday, there is no democracy in the country. So it should be restored through united movement. ASM Hannan Shah said it while addressing a roundtable discussion at the Dhaka Reporters Unity. Jatiyatabadi Projonmo ’71 organised the programme. Hannan Shah accused Awami League leaders of having hand behind the killing of late President Ziaur Rahman. “I can say the names of those Awami League leaders who were involved in the killing of Ziaur Rahman. Some of them became MPs,” Hannan Shah said. Beside, the BNP leader pleaded for investigation into some media reports that mastermind militant Tamim Chowdhury was in India. Then how did he appear in Narayanganj before death? He also said that, the owners of the houses at Kalyanpur in Dhaka and Narayanganj, who sheltered the militants, were AL men. Dhali Aminul Islam Ripon, the President of Jatiyatabadi Projonmo ’71 presided over the programme. JAGPA President Shafiul Alam Prodhan, Labour Party Chairman Dr. Mustafizur Rahman Iran, BNP leader Habibur Rahman Habib and Shammi Aktar, among others, also spoke at the programme.
