Samajtantrik Chhatra Front (SCF) of Jagannath University (JnU) unit Monday staged demonstration to press home their three-point demand including holding of JnU Central Students’ Union election.
They brought out a procession on the campus around 12:30pm and paraded the important thoroughfares of the university, later hold a sit -in program in front of Shanto Chottor of the university.
Their other demands include starting the process of allotment in female dormitory immediately and punishment of Chhatra League activists and policemen who attacked their demo which left 5 leaders injured including two female leaders and snatched their mobile phones on 22 November when they were protesting against inflated price of onion and other daily necessities in old Dhaka area.
Leaders of the organisation at the demonstration urged the authorities concerned to meet their demands immediately, otherwise they will launch tougher movements.
Addressing the demo, SCF JnU unit General Secretary Muzahid Islam Anik alleged that despite getting repeated promises from the university VC of holding central students’union election after DUCSU election, the university authorities did not take any step to hold the JnUCSU electioneven six months after of DUCSU election.
