National Committee to Protect Oil Gas Mineral Resources Power and Ports will stage demonstration on May 14(Monday) across the country in protest against the government’s move to raise gas prices and also alleged corruption in the country’s energy sector.
National Committee’s member secretary
Prof Amu Mohammad announced the programme at a press conference at Bangladesh Shishu Kalyan Parishad auditorium in the cityon Saturday.
Other leaders of the committee including Ruhin Hossain Prince were also present on the occasion.
The National Committee also placed four point demands at the press conference which include withdrawal of power and energy related immunity law, stopping import of LNG and instead taking measures for oil-gas exploration by state-owned companies, removing all anti-environment industrial units including Rampal Power plant from Sundarbans area, and cancelling of setting up high-cost power plants.
