Gazipur factory blast: Demand to compensate dead, injured

A demand was raised at a programme in the city that the dead and injured workers of Multi Fabs Ltd in the recent boiler blast incident in Gazipur be compensated.
The speakers at the human chain programme in front of the National Press Club, organised by the Industrial Bangladesh Council (IBC), also demanded ensuring workplace safety, higher medical treatment of the injured workers and punishment to the owners of the garment factory for their indifferent attitude.
IBC Chairman Mojibur Rahman Bhuiyan, its Acting General Secretary Nurul Islam, central leader Amirul Haq, Ruhul Amin, Salma Akhter, among others, were present at the programme.
“It is government’s responsibility to investigate the cause of the incident and why such incidents are repeating again and again,” said Mojibur Rahman Bhuiyan.
“The authorities have to withdraw conspiratorial case against 3 dead workers in the incident and the government along with BGMEA, BKMEA should compensate the families of the dead and injured workers on the basis of average loss of earnings immediately, ” he suggested.
