Demand for fridge goes up ahead of Eid-ul-Azha

The sales of refrigerators have been geared up across the country following the imminent Eid-ul-Azha, one of the biggest religious festivals of Muslims, to be celebrated in on Tuesday next.
In Bangladesh, the refrigerator sellers treat the days ahead of Eid-ul-Azha a peak season for their business as a good number of people purchase refrigerators and fridges ahead of the Qurbani festival to preserve the meat of their sacrificial animals, the industry insiders said.
This year, the demand for refrigerators among the customers gone up remarkably due to several reasons, including increase of the people’s income, stable political environment and sweltering summer heat, they said. Thus, there is a boom in the refrigerator sales this year compared to the previous years, they added.
To post a record sale of refrigerators in the peak season, the country’s leading electronics, electrical and home appliance manufacturer ‘Walton’ set a target of selling out around 4.5 lakh pieces of fridges across the country ahead of the Qurbani Eid, which was about three times higher than the sales of the corresponding period of the last year. Already, the sales of Walton brand fridges have surpassed the target, according to Walton officials.
This year, Walton marketed total of 58 models of fridges. Of them, 50 models are of frost and non-frost fridges with different capacities like 115 liter, 145 lt, 185 lt, 209 lt, 213 lt, 217 lt, 234 lt, 238 lt, 244 lt, 254 lt, 265 lt, 295 lt, 320 lt, 348 lt, 365 lt, 396 lt, 430 lt, 512 lt, 526 and 585 lt.
