A case has been lodged with Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate court on Thursday against husband and mother in law for assaulting housewife by beating and shaving her hair made bald demanding dowry.
Fatema Akter, as complainant, accused her husband Shahin Akon and mother in law Shamsunnahar Begum of Adhuna village under Gournadi upazila, in the case.. Shihabul Islam, magistrate of the court, accepting the case ordered to issue arrest warrant against accused husband and summon against mother in law.
Atikur Rahman, advocate of the complainant, said Shahin, son of Shahjahan of Adhuna village married Fatema Begum, daughter of Faruk Shikdar of Bahadurpur of the upazila on January 10, 2016.
Some days after the marriage Husband Shahin and his family members started mentally and physically torturing Fatema demanding dowry.
However after failing to fulfill their demand, Shahin and his mother and other in laws binding hands and mouth tortured Fatema and shaving hair made her bald on May 8, 2016.
Hearing the news paternal family members of Fatema rushed to the spot and rescuing her arranged medical treatment.
As the issue was not compromised by social arbitration, so the case was lodged on Thursday, the advocate of the complainant told.
