The delegating headship program of the Department of English at Comilla University (CoU) was held with a befitting manner on Monday last. Many events had been taken to mark this program. The first phase of the program was the farewell of the former Departmental Head, the reception of the newly joined Departmental Head and the second phase was a marvelous cultural event. The program started with the recitation of the Holly Quran and with the floral tribute.
Jahidul Alam, the former chairman of the Department handover the headship to MM Shariful Karim. Jahidul Alam at his parting hour reminiscenced the days on which he acted as the chairman.
He said that he has tried his best to reduce the session jam, arranged study tour, sports and cultural programs and so on during his servce. Therefore, he thanked his colleagues and staffs for thier hearty co-operation. Noted, He acted as the 5th departmental chairman of English from the 20th november, 2011 till 1 september, 2014.
MM Shariful Karim, the chairman of the Department of English said that he would do the things, which will be lucrative to the Department. He emphasised on the teamwork of the teachers and promised to arrange a students’ council to hear and solve the problems of the department. Moreover, he wished that he will act his responsibility without any racial discrimination.
The program was circulated by Firuz Ahmed, the lecturer of English and Sharmin Ahmed Sultana, lecturer of the department. Ali Rezwan Talukdar, the Assistant Professor of the department was the president of the program. Assistant Professor Md. Habibur Rahman, Md Harun, students’ advisor of the department and other teachers and students were present at the program.
