The delay in publishing the 35th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) final examination’s result is making the candidates anxious.
The candidates fear that the qualified job-seekers may be deprived of their expected result if the Public Service Commission (PSC) delays to publish, because there were many irregularities in the 34th BCS result. But the administration of PSC did not correct those irregularities.
A candidate who took part in the 35th BCS viva voce examination told The New Nation that the PSC publishes the result within three months of the final examination usually. But, delay to publish the result is not a good sign, he said.
“Many successful candidates of the 34th BCS depended on the underhand dealings to get jobs, in the administration, police, the foreign service, the taxation and the customs department. Someone paid even 20 lakh. So, now we are anxious,” he said.
Bashir Alam, a candidate, told this reporter, “The students believe that PSC is a transparent and corruption free body for the meritorious students. But when it is seen that the candidates get job from PSC by underhand dealings we despair.”
Contrarily, the PSC declined outright all the allegations against them saying that there was no discrepancy in publishing the 34th BCS examination’s result.
Chairman of PSC Dr Mohammad Sadiq said, the PSC officials have been working to publish the result as early as possible.
“The PSC is taking viva voce of the nurses and officers of some other departments. The officials are passing very busy time. That is why, it is being delayed to publish the 35th BCS examination’s final result. I hope that the result will be published soon,” the PSC chairman said.
A total of 6,088 candidates passed in written examination in the 35th BCS. The viva voce ended on April 12 this year.
Analysing the last five BCS viva voce results, it was found that the delay to publish 35th BCS result has crossed all the past records because it took 40 to 90 days.
The 30th BCS examination final result was published after 41 days of viva voce, 31st after 78 days of viva voce, 32nd after 42 days of viva voce, 33rd after 72 days of viva voce and 34th after 89 days of the viva voce.
The candidates said that the PSC took 89 days for publishing the 34th BCS examination’s final result. About 10 thousand candidates took part in the viva voce examination.
