A defamation case for Taka 100 crore was filed against the editor, publisher, advisory editor and two correspondents of the Daily Kalerkantha in a court in Jhenaidah on Wednesday night.
Ruling party law maker of Jhenaidah-3 constituency (Moheshpur- Kotchandpur) Principal Nabi Newaz filed the case in the court of Joint District and Sessions Judge-2.
The Judge of the court Mohammad Taslim Arif ordered the court to issue summons against Editor Imdadul Haque Mion, Publisher Mainal Hossain Chowdhury, Advisory editor Amit Habib and two correspondents Mostaque Ahmed and Shariful Alam Suman.
Mohammad Abdul Khaleque Sagar, a lawyer of the petitioner Principal Nabi Newaz said, the said five printed a news item on the daily on October 14 last year captioned A commission is being formed to stop trade in non-government teachers recruitment (Besorkari Shikkhak Niyog Banijya Bondhe Commission hochchhe).
