Deepika Padukone, who has recently turned producer with films like Chhapaak and ’83 is now planning to collaborate with Madhu Mantena for a film titled, Mahabharat. Reportedly, the film is planned to be made in two parts and the first part is scheduled for a Diwali 2021 release.
Deepika Padukone told a daily that she’s absolutely thrilled and honored to be essaying the role of Draupadi. Said Deepika, “I truly believe that it is the role of a lifetime.”
While Madhu Manyena said that people have consumed the Mahabharata all their lives, but the uniqueness of Deepika’s film is to see the same story from the point of view of Draupadi, who is one of the most significant heroines in our country’s cultural history.
Mantena said, “And Deepika is not just the biggest actress today, but someone who can take this narrative across borders. If it weren’t with her, we would not be making this film on such an ambitious scale.”
