The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 on Wednesday set May 10 to pass an order whether to start trial against six Jamalpur Razakars in absentia or not.
The six – Md Ashraf Hossain, 64, Prof Sharif Ahmed, 71, Md Abdul Mannan, 66, Md Abdul Bari, 62, Md Harun, 58, Md Abul Hashem, 65, are still on the run as the tribunal issued arrest warrant against them on March 2. But their two partners in the crimes, Advocate Shamsul Haque and SM Eusuf Ali were not lucky as they were arrested on the day of issuing the warrant.
Earlier on April 29, the tribunal set on Wednesday to submit a police report on the arrest of the six fugitives and prosecutor Tapos Kanti Baul submitted that accordingly.
The prosecution on April 19 submitted the 107-page formal charge against the eight bringing five specific charges against them. The ICT-2 took the charges into cognizance on April 29.
According to the investigation agency, all the eight are leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami and the fugitive six carried out gruesome crimes as al-Badr men with Ashraf, accused no-1, as their leader.
