Local administration in Bandarban is actively working to ensure the safety and security of the residents living near the Bangladesh-Myanmar borders to evade any sort of undesirable incidents due to the escalating violence inside the Rakhaine State.
Over the last one month, the conflicts between the Myanmar army and the Arakan army in Rakhine State have been intensified on account of the bombardment along the borders of the two countries.
Against Myanmar’s infringement of international border law, the Bangladesh government is intensely thinking of bringing a solution to it.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, while addressing the fifth founding anniversary of anti-terrorism unit in the capital on Monday, said both the Prime Minister and the Foreign Ministry will work together to take a decision about the issue in the shortest possible time.
“We are a peace-loving country. We never want our peaceful atmosphere hampered,” he told the journalists.
“We have a border with Myanmar along the Bandarban and Teknaf lines. We think Myanmar is locked in conflicts due to their internal problems. Still we don’t know who they are fighting with. So far we know, the conflict is going on with the Arakan army. So the firing is going on,” the minister said.
“Their firing shells have landed inside our country. We have protested it with a strong voice,” he added.
“Amid this situation, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Ministry will soon take a decision to resolve the issue. We want a peaceful environment here,” he added.
He also reiterated that Bangladesh, if necessary, would raise the issue before the United Nations for a solution of it.
Apart from this, the Home Minister said that no more Rohingyas would be allowed again.
Meanwhile, in exchange of firing mortar shells and bullets in the conflict zone inside Myanmar, the locals are living in fear because some of the ammunition landed inside Bangladesh territory from Myanmar side in the recent time, killing one Rohingya and several others injured.
In order to beef up the security on the border, the Bangladesh government also asked Border Guards Bangladesh and Coast Guard to remain on high alert amid the evolving situation and to tackle any sort of infiltration.
Apart from the border security forces, the local administration is also active regarding the safety of the local inhabitants of the area.
