Law Minister Anisul Huq said the law ministry’s opinion on BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s appeal to be sent abroad for better treatment would be sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs by Sunday.
“Then the government will announce the final decision in this regard,” the Law Minister told the media on Saturday afternoon.
Asked if the law ministry’s opinion had been sent, Anisul Haque said, “We have not sent our opinion yet. We will send our views to the home ministry tomorrow morning.” “We will give them (Ministry of Home Affairs) the views on the appeal,” he said, adding that home ministry will inform you of the decision.
Khaleda Zia was tested positive for the coronavirus on April 11. On that day, eight other private staff members at her residence ‘Firoza’ were also identified with the virus.
On April 24, Khaleda Zia’s COVID test report came positive in the second phase. Later on April 27, she was admitted to the Evercare Hospital in the capital.
When Khaleda Zia felt shortness of breath on Monday morning, the doctors transferred her to the CCU. She is being treated under a 10-member medical board under the supervision of Shahabuddin Talukder, a cardiologist at Evercare Hospital.
