Jail authorities will decide next course of action after the medical board that examined BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia submits report on her health condition, the deputy director of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) said on Monday.
The medical board will submit the report to the director of DMCH, who will then hand it over to jail authorities for further decision, Dr Mohammad Shah Alam Talukder said while briefing journalists at the hospital’s conference room around 11:30am.
A four-member medical board formed for the treatment the BNP chairperson examined her yesterday at Old Central Jail at Nazimuddin Road where she landed on February 8 after a court sentenced her to five years’ imprisonment in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
After the examination, the BNP chief has been suffering from some old as well as several newly developed health conditions, but none of them are serious.
The team spoke with Khaleda Zia, 73, and observed her health condition in presence of Dhaka’s Civil Surgeon Ehsanul Karim, said Prof Shamsuzzaman, Head of Orthopedic Department of DMCH, also chief of the four-member medical board.
