Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Wednesday said a decision on buying coronavirus vaccine from China and running trials for it in Bangladesh will be taken next week.
He said this at a virtual meeting of the government procurement committee (purchase).
The minister said a Chinese company claims to have invented a coronavirus vaccine and proposed holding clinical trials for it in Bangladesh.
In addition, two American companies have also offered to test their vaccines
in Bangladesh, he said. “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will announce the final decision next week,” he added.
Addressing the programme, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said the finance ministry is ready to pay in advance to buy the vaccine.
