A Dhaka Court on Monday fixed July 28 to decide whether charge will be framed against 26 BNP men, including its Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in a case filed for vandalism.
Magistrate Md Tareq Mainul Islam Bhuiyan of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka set the date in response to a time petition filed on behalf of the defence.
The hearing was scheduled for Monday but the date had to be deferred as Mirza Fakhrul and Goyeshwar Chandra Roy could not be produced in the court.
The case was filed in connection with vandalism, arson attack and bomb blast in the capital city’s Paltan area on March 2 in 2013. Paltan Police Station Sub-Inspector Mehedi Maksud filed the case. Sub-Inspector Aminul Islam, who is investigating the case, submitted the charge sheet on March 26 in 2013.
Apart from Fakhurl and Goyeshwar, the names of BNP Standing Committee Member Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas and Aman Ullah Aman have been included in the charge sheet.
