“Debi,” the film that has generated some controversy following dispute between producers and family members of late writer Humayun Ahmed, will be released in theatres across Bangladesh on September 7.
It will also be released in the West Bengal, India soon after. The film’s official distributor is Jaaz Multimedia.
The film’s producer and lead actor Jaya Ahsan, who is currently in India working in a Kaushik Ganguly project, revealed the news on a Facebook post on Friday.
Directed by Anam Biswas, “Debi” is based on Humayun Ahmed’s novel of the same title from his popular “Misir Ali” series and produced by Jaya’s production house C Te Cinema along with a grant from the Bangladesh government.
National award winning actor Chanchal Chowdhury, who plays Misir Ali in the film, also shared the release date through a video message on Facebook on Friday.
Apart from Jaya and Chanchal, the “Debi” cast include Sabnam Faria, Iresh Zaker, Animesh Aich and others.
