UNB, Dhaka :
An inquiry official of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has reportedly received death threat, asking him not to recommend the Commission to file case against ruling party MP Enamul Haque on allegation of amassing illegal wealth.
“Enamul Haque’s lawyer Kanchan Das threatened me over phone at about 10 am on Wednesday and asked for the progress of the probe being conducted against his client,” ACC deputy director Jatan Kumar Roy told UNB.
He said Kanchan Das stated that the top officials of the government and the commission are in favor of Enamul and asked him (Jatan) not to file any case against the parliament member.
“Kanchan threatened ‘if I file case against Enamul, it’ll be the end for me,” Jatan Kumar said. The ACC official said he filed a general diary (GD) with Ramna police station in the afternoon, seeking security.
