War crimes: Death row fugitive Rajab Ali arrested

The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested M Aminul Haque alias Rajab Ali, a fugitive, who was sentenced to death in 2018 for committing crimes against humanity during 1971 Liberation War in Kishoreganj.
He was arrested from Kalabagan area of the capital on Sunday (July 3) night, said it in a press conference at the RAB’s media center in Karwanbazar.
According to the RAB, the International Criminal Tribunal on November 5, 2014, charged KM Aminul Haque with seven counts of crimes against humanity, including murder, genocide, abduction, detention, torture and looting during the 1971 war of liberation.
On December 27, 2015, the investigating agency submitted the investigation report. The tribunal later issued an arrest warrant against Aminul Haque on May 18, 2016 and sentenced KM Aminul Haque alias Rajab Ali to death on November 5, 2018.
RAB has stepped up surveillance to arrest the fugitive accused convicted of crimes against humanity. Following this, the intelligence branch of RAB headquarters and the expedition team of RAB-2 conducted an operation in Kalabagan area of the capital on Saturday night and arrested KM Aminul Haque alias Rajab Ali, a fugitive accused in the case of crimes against humanity.
It was further stated in the press conference that Aminul took direct stand against Bangladesh during the great war of Liberation in 1971 and killed innocent freedom fighters of Bangladesh in Kishoreganj, Bhairab, Brahmanbaria and Habiganj areas.
