Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Thursday expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Bangabandhu’s Private Secretary and valiant freedom fighter Dr Syed Abdus Samad.
In a condolence message, the minister said Samad, who subsequently served as the Principal Secretary of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her government’s 1996-2001 tenure, will be a unique example for his honesty, wisdom and braveness.
He (Samad) will ever be remembered for outstanding contribution to the nation, he added.
Hasan, also Awami League Joint General Secretary, prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Dr SA Samad, a life-long bachelor, died at his Baridhara residence in Dhaka on Wednesday at the age of 78.
