Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of eminent artist Murtaja Baseer, an awardee of Ekushey Padak.
In a condolence message on Saturday, Quader said, “Murtaja Baseer was an artist, poet, researcher, novelist, cartoonist and activist of language movement. He established a distinct style in painting. He played a leading role in all the movements for establishing the rights of Bangalee, including the language movement of 1952 and the liberation war of 1971. “
The minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
